Holly Lohuis, Co-Director; Adam Ernster, Media Director; Luisa Hyatt, Co-Director

As we reflect on our 2nd annual Whale of a Celebration, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. This special gathering is more than an event—it is a testament to the deep love, dedication, and community spirit that make the Santa Barbara Channel Whale Heritage Area so vibrant.

To all who attended, thank you for showing up with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a shared passion for the whales who grace our waters. Your presence helps strengthen our mission and shows that our community is truly united in protecting the Santa Barbara Channel.

To our incredible nonprofit partners, we are endlessly thankful for the work you do every day—and for bringing your knowledge, energy, and commitment to our celebration. Your presence created a space where learning, inspiration, and collaboration flowed effortlessly.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors and in-kind sponsors, whose generosity made this event possible. From financial support to donated services, equipment, and resources, your contributions helped us create an experience that honored the whales and the people who care for them.

Events like this remind us that protecting the Santa Barbara Channel—and celebrating the whales who define it—takes all of us. We are deeply grateful for everyone who played a role in bringing this year’s celebration to life.

Together, we are building a future where our Channel’s natural and cultural heritage is honored, uplifted, and protected. Thank you for being part of this journey—and for helping us continue the work that matters so deeply.

Here’s to the whales, to our community, and to many more celebrations to come.

For the whales…..Thank You!
